The Caspian Offshore Oil Terminals (COOT) will also be equipped with state-of-the-art In-Line Constant Monitoring (ILCM) sampling stations. These portable ILCMs will allow a representative sample to be taken of the entire tanker cargo of crude oil as it is loaded and unloaded so that variations in specifications can be monitored and adjustments made before crude oil arrives at the destination port or refinery. This will eliminate previous problems with variances in crude specifications at refineries designed to run specific API gravity, sulfur content and mercaptan limitations.
